Gold Diggers of 1933 ending
by ccManagerCommentary summary:
A sad Hollywood ending
Text Commentary:
Not all Hollywood movies from the Depression era concluded on an upbeat note. The final number in this Warner Bros. film featuring the choreography of Busby Berkeley focuses on the sad plight of the “forgotten men,” World War I veterans who had lost their jobs and been rebuffed in their attempts to convince the government to pay them bonuses for their service. These bonuses had been promised but were not payable until 1945.
