The technological apparatus underlying Terry Gilliam's dystopian technocracy in Brazil are a hybrid of 18th, 19th and 20th century technologies, a parodic invocation of Wolfgang Schivelbusch, Carolyn Marvin and Bolter and Grusin's concept of remediation.
