Text Commentary:
Perhaps no film offered a more insightful depiction of the challenges faced by soldiers and civilians alike after the end of World War II than The Best Years of Our Lives. In this poignant scene, a sergeant is reunited with his family. Despite the joy and love apparent in his homecoming, conflicts will soon develop within the family, as they will with respect to the other principal characters in the story and their most important relationships.
