Having become popular as a television show about television, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America goes all out in displaying some popular culture glamour. Incorporating visual reference to seminal action 70s television shows such as Charlie's Angels, Starsky and Hutch, and The Dukes of Hazzard, along with homages to Shaft and the action adventure/ exploitation film genre, the film sets the audience up for a transformation of their previously held expectations for Beavis and Butt-Head. With their TV stolen, the two immature teenagers face a world much larger and dynamic than their living room. In this opening scene, the film plays with the assumptions about television's adaptation into film as Beavis and Butt-Head leave the coach of music video consumption to set out on their own adventure of spectacular action, told in the form of the feature-length film.
